Website Tools

Check whether a website is up, fast, and correctly configured.

What are website tools?

Website tools check how a site responds to a real request: whether it is up, which status code it returns, where its redirects lead, which headers it sends, which server software it reports and how quickly it answers. The website tools on this page make an ordinary request from our server, as a visitor's browser would, and explain what comes back. They never scan for weaknesses or send unusual traffic.

Because the request comes from outside your network, they are also a quick way to tell whether a problem affects everyone or only you.

What each website tool does

Website Status Checker reports whether a site is reachable, its HTTP status code and meaning, any redirects followed, a timing breakdown and basic server response details.

Redirect Checker follows an address hop by hop, up to five redirects, and lists each step with its status code and the location it pointed to.

HTTP Headers Checker groups a page's response headers into security, cache and server sections, marks six security headers as present, missing or misconfigured, and lists every header received.

Website Response Time splits one request into DNS lookup, connection, TLS handshake, time to first byte and total time.

Website Server Checker shows the Server and X-Powered-By headers a site sends about its software. These are the site's own claims, not verified facts.

Website Health Checker scores seven weighted checks, covering HTTPS, status code, speed, three security headers and redirects, out of 100.

Bulk URL Status Checker tests up to 15 addresses at once and shows whether each was reachable, its status and its response time, with a CSV download.

When to use which website tool

The site seems to be down

Start with the Website Status Checker. If it shows a redirect or an odd final address, the Redirect Checker shows exactly where each step goes.

The site feels slow

Website Response Time shows whether the delay comes from DNS, the connection or the server itself. The HTTP Headers Checker then shows whether caching and compression are switched on.

After a redesign or migration

Paste your most important old addresses into the Bulk URL Status Checker and look for anything that does not end in a 200 status.

A quick overall view

The Website Health Checker gives one score with a list of recommendations, which is handy for client reports.

Problems these website tools help solve

  • Visitors report errors you cannot reproduce.
  • Old links lead to missing pages after a move.
  • Pages bounce between http and https in a redirect loop.
  • A CDN or plugin changed headers without anyone noticing.
  • A slow server response delays every page.
  • A client's audit asks for security headers the site does not send.

What the website tools do not do

These tools look at the response to one request. They do not crawl every page, run JavaScript, measure a full browser page load or judge content and search rankings. To find insecure files on a secure page, the Mixed Content Checker in SSL & Security reads a page's HTML. For everything else, run the relevant tool on each address you care about.

Website checks connect with several other areas. SSL & Security covers certificates and protective headers in depth, DNS Tools confirm that a domain points to the right server, and IP Tools show which network hosts it.

Frequently asked questions

Are these website tools safe to run on any site?

Yes. Each tool makes an ordinary request, the same kind a browser makes, and reads the response. None of them scans ports, tests for vulnerabilities or sends unusual traffic, so you can check any public website, including ones you do not own.

Why does a site work for me but fail in the Website Status Checker?

Some servers block automated requests, data-centre addresses or visitors from certain countries, and some sites only answer inside a private network. The site may also be too slow for the time limit. If it loads in your browser, it is up, but outside visitors may still have trouble.

How many redirects do the website tools follow?

Up to five. Each connection has five seconds to open and the whole request must finish within twelve seconds. A chain longer than five redirects is reported as too many, which usually points to a redirect loop or conflicting rules in the server, CDN or a plugin.

Does Website Response Time measure the full page load?

No. It times one request for the main document from our server. A browser also downloads images, stylesheets, scripts and fonts, then draws the page, which takes longer. Use it to judge server speed, and a browser-based speed test for the complete experience.

How many URLs can I check in bulk?

The Bulk URL Status Checker accepts up to 15 unique addresses per check, separated by new lines or commas, and each connection can run three bulk checks per minute. Results can be downloaded as a CSV file with the final address after redirects.

Is the website health score an SEO score?

No. It covers technical basics that visitors and browsers rely on: HTTPS, a healthy status code, a response under two seconds, three security headers and short redirects. Search rankings depend on content, links and many other factors the score does not measure.

Why do some tools show a 405 or other unexpected status?

To stay fast, most of these website tools ask the server for headers only. A few servers answer that kind of request differently from a normal page load. If the page loads correctly in a browser, the site is most likely working as it should.
