About this tool
A domain's age is calculated from its registration ("creation") date, as reported by the registry via RDAP or WHOIS, compared against today's date. Domain age is a commonly cited (though not universally decisive) signal in SEO discussions, and it's also simply useful context when evaluating a domain for purchase or researching a business's online history.
How the calculation works
We take the registration date directly from the registry record and compute the exact calendar difference to today — years, remaining months, remaining days, and the total day count — using standard date arithmetic, not an approximation.
Why does domain age matter?
Older domains sometimes carry more established trust signals (backlink history, brand recognition), but age alone doesn't guarantee authority or ranking — a domain's actual content and link profile matter far more than age by itself.
Why is age unavailable for some domains?
A small number of registries don't publish a registration date in their WHOIS or RDAP output, or the legacy WHOIS text for that particular registry uses a date format this tool doesn't recognize.
