Domain Expiry Checker

Check exactly when a domain expires, how many days remain, and whether it has already lapsed.

About this tool

Every registered domain has an expiry date set by its registrar. If it isn't renewed in time, it passes through a grace period and eventually becomes available for anyone to register — sometimes within days of expiry, sometimes after a much longer redemption window, depending on the registry. This tool reads the expiry date directly from RDAP or WHOIS and calculates exactly how much time is left.

Understanding the status badges

  • Active — more than 30 days remain until expiry.
  • Expiring soon — 30 days or fewer remain. Worth renewing promptly if this is your domain.
  • Expired — the expiry date has already passed. The domain may still be recoverable by its original owner during a grace period before it's released.

What happens right after a domain expires?

Most registries apply a renewal grace period, then a more restrictive "redemption period" where the original registrant can still reclaim the domain (often at a premium fee), before it finally releases back into the general available pool. Exact timelines vary by registry and TLD.
