About this tool
Every registered domain carries one or more EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol) status codes —
ICANN's standard vocabulary for describing a domain's registration state. Codes like
clientTransferProhibited or serverHold are precise and useful, but not
self-explanatory to most domain owners. This tool translates whatever codes a domain reports into
plain English.
Common status codes

Should client/server-prohibited codes worry you?
No — clientTransferProhibited, clientDeleteProhibited and similar
"prohibited" codes set by your own registrar are standard security practice, not a problem. They
simply mean an extra step (usually removing the lock in your registrar's control panel) is needed
before that specific action. server* versions of these codes are set by the registry
itself and are less common — worth investigating if you see one unexpectedly.
