About this tool
This is the broadest IP lookup on the site — one search covering an address's basic type, its network (ASN) and provider, an approximate country, reverse DNS hostname, and blacklist status, all in one page. Where this data comes from
Type classification (public/private/loopback/etc.) is determined directly from the address itself against IANA's published special-purpose address registries. ASN, provider, network range and country come from Team Cymru's IP-to-ASN lookup service — a live query against real routing/allocation data, not a static or estimated database. Blacklist results come from live queries against a small, curated set of DNS-based block lists (see IP Blacklist Checker for the full list and its own caveats). This tool does not attempt city-level or precise geolocation — only the country associated with the network's registration, which is a materially different and less precise thing than a device's actual physical location.
Why does a private IP show no ASN or provider?
Private, loopback, link-local and other non-public ranges aren't announced on the public internet, so they have no associated network operator or provider to look up — this isn't a lookup failure, it's expected for that type of address.
Does a blacklist listing mean this IP is malicious?
Not on its own. Block lists vary in accuracy and what behavior triggers a listing, and shared hosting or dynamic residential ranges can carry a previous occupant's listing. Treat a listing as one input worth investigating further, not a verdict.
